Have you ever thought about your online security, particularly as it pertains with email? If you don’t mind your data being compromised and sold or you simply don’t care about your online security, then you won’t get anything from what you read here. However, if you value your privacy and security like I do, Proton Mail is right for you!
In this post, you’ll learn what Proton Mail is and why we affiliated ourselves with them.
What’s Proton Mail?
According to the website, Proton Mail is an “encrypted email service based in Switzerland, which means your data is protected by some of the world’s strictest privacy laws. Unlike popular email providers (ex: Gmail, Outlook, and Yahoo), Proton Mail‘s end-to-end encryption and zero-access encryption ensure only you can see your emails.” Furthermore, Proton Mail protects you from email trackers and prevents companies from monitoring you. Not to mention, this email service is “trusted by journalists, security experts, and millions of people around the world” for the various tools that Proton Mail offers, including but not limited to their VPN.

Why Did We Affiliate Ourselves with Proton Mail?
To put it simply, I value my privacy and online security. This, too, is a value that I’ve incorporated into Brooks Defense. While I prefer to partner with American-based companies as much and as often as I can, I haven’t been successful in locating an email service that shares this value here in the States due to – in my opinion – FISA and the Patriot Act.
This is the main reason why I decided to affiliate with Proton Mail! Another reason why I affiliated myself with the email service is because they’re located in Switzerland where – while their gun laws isn’t as liberal as here in the States – there is a relatively positive gun culture there compared to other countries.
Conclusion
While it’s one thing to focus on our physical safety by training for the worst-case scenario, online privacy and security is something that many of us often don’t consider or care to. Given how our data is sold to advertisers or is stolen, this is an area that needs to be reconsidered.
With that said, I hope you take your online privacy and security seriously by taking this step to switch over to Proton Mail today! If you’d like to discuss this topic more, feel free to leave a comment below and/or message me directly on Minnect or Smeeple.
