The United States Concealed Carry Association (USCCA) is actually the first organization that I’ve partnered with. This is my overall assessment and the reason why I partnered with them.

Back when I first got into security contracting and private protection in 2019, I was covered legally if I were involved in a defensive incident as long as I was on duty but didn’t have coverage once I went off duty. I came across the USCCA because I was looking into self-defense liability insurance and was researching the various providers out there. Based on what was included and for the price, it was and still is the best option out there!

Between 2020 and 2021, as I was planning on acquiring my firearms instructor certifications, I was looking into my options with the USCCA and NRA. I didn’t want to go with a state organization because I didn’t want to feel limited; hence, why I narrowed my options down to the 2 largest national organizations. Originally, I was going to go with the NRA until I researched the USCCA’s criteria more. I ultimately chose the USCCA because it was the most cost-effective in the long run ($599 one-time fee and teach at least 20 students per year as opposed to paying a renewal fee every couple of years regardless of the number of students in the class). Not only is the USCCA the most cost-effective, I’m simply not interested in teaching the recreation, competition or hunting side, but rather the defensive side of firearms use which is the difference that I find between the USCCA and NRA. The USCCA is growing faster and is more pro-2A compared to the NRA where the leadership has a history of wavering on 2A rights. I recommend reading both Blue Ocean Strategy by W. Chan Kim and Guns, Freedom & The American Dream by Tim Schmidt as these two books will help you understand what I’m talking about.

Since becoming a member in June 2020, I have come to the conclusion that Tim Schmidt has created the best product out there – the USCCA – from the customer service to products to the various up-to-date curriculums! Perhaps I’m being biased but I’m sincere in my assessment. The Instructor Support is quick in responding to my questions and/or concerns, the business support resources that’s provided, my instructor liability insurance through the USCCA’s Delta Insurance Solutions, and my Training Counselor (Chase Coughlin), Representative (Tim Bean) and – even though it’s only been one occasion so far – Regional Training Manager (Steven Washington) have been completely straight-forward with me and will tell it like it is in their suggestions with zero bullshit in between, which I appreciate as I would rather experience a sting for a short time versus a lifetime of headaches.

I hope this explains why I partnered with the USCCA. If you’re not currently a member, I highly recommend it! Not just for the self-defense liability insurance but also for the wealth of information in the training videos in their Protector Academy and magazine subscription that comes with membership.
