In this post, I’ll be explaining why I decided to partner with and become a direct distributor of Byrna’s products. Not only am I a direct distributor of their products but I also own shares of stock in the company as I’m a firm believer in what they’re offering. I hope that you’ll be able to see my passion through this post as well as understand my argument as to why you should include their products in your self-defense supplies and weaponry.
To begin with, Byrna’s mission is “To provide civilians, law enforcement officers and security professionals with a safe, reliable and effective non-lethal alternative to traditional firearms that will allow Byrna’s customers to protect and defend themselves, their families and their community without the need to resort to deadly force.” A firearm – let alone, deadly force – isn’t always the right answer depending on the circumstances as it adds an additional moral, emotional and financial dilemma. With that said, I wanted to be able to provide an additional non-lethal tool to my students, customers and readers like yourself to be able to defend yourself without the added weight.
A few additional reasons as to why I partnered with Byrna include but isn’t limited to:
- American-based company located in Fort Wayne, IN with over 80% of U.S. sourced components
- Rock solid customer service
- A great tool for training as it saves you money without having to always use live ammunition, as well as, teaching your child firearm safety and fundamentals
- Unlike pepper spray (~4 – 20 ft reach depending on the product) and Tasers (15 ft reach) that require the threat to be up close, Byrna’s pistols and rifles can be used from a distance of 50 – 100 feet depending on the product
- As someone with experience in security and self-defense, it’s a great option for civilians, law enforcement and security professionals including security teams for houses of worship
The company’s website also lists some key benefits as to why you should choose Byrna:
- No background checks as the launchers, by definition, aren’t firearms since they’re powered by compressed CO2 cartridges just like paintball and airsoft guns
- Legal in 50 states
- Ships directly to your door
- 22,000+ 5-star reviews

It’s important to note that states and local municipalities can and do limit what you’re able to purchase. For example, in Michigan, the Byrna MAX projectiles are illegal as it’s considered tear gas due to its 9% concentration of OC and CS; whereas, the Pepper projectiles are legal due to its 5% OC / Pava formula. Again, be sure to always check the local regulations of your municipality as well as your destination relating to CO2 powered launchers and pepper self-defense products before making a purchase. I will also add that I don’t recommend utilizing the Pepper and MAX projectiles indoors as they may bring unintended consequences such as innocent bystanders experiencing their effects. For defense while indoors, I recommend the Kinetic projectiles.
