New Year, New Name

With 2024 upon us, we’ve decided to change our name, revise our mission and vision statements, and update our values among other things. I’m going to take this time to layout exactly what we’ve changed and why those decisions were made.

To begin with – over the course of 2023 – I’ve been contemplating what changes I’d like to make in order to grow my business.

  • I’ve changed part of the name from “Consultations” to “Solutions” because I’m more focused on offering real solutions by providing quality training, resources and products rather than provide strictly consulting services.
  • Our business hours changed. Weekdays are strictly by appointment only and we’re open from 8 am – 5:30 pm on the weekends. We’re also closed on five holidays as opposed to eight. This allows us to better serve our clients and students.
  • While I hold to the values that were in place when I first started the business in 2021 (i.e. having high standards), I’ve made revisions as I’m looking towards the future and as I refocus my target market.
  • Along with revising the core values, I revised the mission and vision statements.
  • I’ve condensed my course offerings to simplify everything. For example, I combined my Red Dot 101 and Marksmanship Simplified courses with my Basic Handgun course. Furthermore, I eliminated the Intro. to Constitutional Carry as class attendance never improved and decided to offer 1-on-1 private Michigan CPL course for an increased fee. I was simply offering too much, which was complicating my course schedule as well as the back end of the business. On the same token, I’ve been researching potential courses to offer in the near future as well.
  • Along with condensing courses and researching additional courses to offer, I’m planning to offer additional products for sale on our website such as targets and hearing protection for example.
  • Unless things change with the leadership and they decide to be more unwavering in their stance regarding the Second Amendment, I won’t be renewing my membership with the NSSF this year. I refuse to conduct business with companies that are loose on their 2A stance, including any woke companies. For example, I will not pay to advertise on Facebook / Instagram but will on PublicSquare. Furthermore, I’m going to prefer companies that are based in the U.S. rather than China and India as many foreign countries don’t share the same values as the U.S. Businesses based in Switzerland is one that I would consider as they have a semi-friendly gun culture – in comparison to other countries outside the U.S. – and strict privacy laws.
  • I had the font in our logo changed because the original font made it seem like I offered mainly martial arts training and the new font is easier to read as well as doesn’t confuse us with a karate dojo. To further elaborate the meaning behind our logo, the skull represents protection and deterrence, while the circle symbolizes infinity in training where an individual’s training never ends once it begins.

Conclusion

This is only a small list of the changes that I’ve made as we begin the new year in 2024. While I’ve had to make some tough decisions, I’m excited to see what this year brings for this company as it’s important to not only grow but to also make changes where necessary in order to best meet the needs of our students and clients. This means implementing stricter policies, changing our business hours, introducing and eliminating courses, and rebranding.
